MICHAEL CHEKHOV:
LESSONS FOR TEACHERS, Transcribed with an Introduction by Deirdre Hurst du Prey. It was at the beginning of 1936 that Chekhov gave 18 lessons to Beatrice Straight and Deirdre Hurst du Prey, from whose verbatim shorthand notes they are published here for the first time in the entirety just as he gave them. Chekhov's unique use of rhythm, atmosphere, the actors' ego and his emphasis on creative imagination in the teaching of acting technique, all contribute to make these lessons a valuable addition to the literature on Chekhov already in print. In their simple form, they contain the essence of Michael Chekhov's mode of teaching his technique.

This Out-of-Print Soft cover book is currently available in new or slightly used and good condition. Assembled after Mr. Chekhov passed away in 1955, by his widow and Charles Lenard, it is a terrific addition to any one's Chekhov Library. It contains some transcripts from Mr. Chekhov's famous lectures on Love, Directors, and how to breakdown a script using his noted "Inspector General" production as a model.
