MCC is a theatre company that sponsors a
cooperative of teacher/directors, providing education about Michael Chekhov's Acting Techniques for
professional actors, acting teachers, writers and directors. The Michael Chekhov Connection is a
dues paying organization ($25/monthly) that requires a monthly work commitment. In exchange for
dues and work, members are encouraged to attend the Monday night workout, participate in showcases,
staged readings, cultural events, and stage, film and video development and productions. Monthly
dues are waived during enrollment in a class with Lisa Dalton. Application for membership is made
directly to Lisa Dalton and requires completion of The Michael Chekhov Foundation Course or
equivalent, as determined by interview/audition. The MCC reserves the right to limit
membership.

Acting
Training Now Available: |
|
We strongly suggest your first step be reading "On The Technique of Acting" by Michael Chekhov. If the book feels
"right" give us a call at (818) 761-5404 or email us. Then
we'll schedule your first of five private or semi-private foundation lessons, on a day mutually
convenient for you and the teacher.
Foundation Course
is a five lesson series that covers the "Chart for Inspired Acting" found in the preface of "On the
Technique of Acting by Michael Chekhov."
The Foundation Course is a pre-requisite to
the Chekhov in Action Class and membership in the Michael Chekhov Connection for actors of all
skill levels, similar to what any one joining a gymnasium would experience in getting a tour of the
equipment with a trainer. The classes are one or two actors with Lisa Dalton, are based in intense
concentration, and mind-body connecting techniques. Loose clothing and bare feet are recommended.
Physical limitations and handicaps are taken into consideration. Please mention them at time of
enrollment. Classes are scheduled and paid for individually, with no obligation to
continue.
You are welcome to participate in a trial Chekhov
in Action class for $40.00, which can be applied to your monthly enrollment. However, due to the
experiential nature of this work, we have found taking the first foundation lesson to be of more
value to the individual than an inactive class audit when trying to determine whether Lisa Dalton's
approach to Michael Chekhov's Acting technique is appropriate. Try one lesson at a time with no
obligation to continue.
Private Coaching Now Available!
Lisa Dalton will personalized to your need, a
unified approach to developing the skill to act, the technique for any given acting medium, and the

Chekhov in Action: The first half of the
class is activating the mind-body connection through exercises which prep your imagination and body
to perform the material at hand in a state of peak performance. Then, we apply the work we have
done to improvisation, monologues, cold reading or scenes. Lisa Dalton creates a personal
development plan with each participant based on your foundation lessons. This plan influences the
structure and topics addressed in order to move you forward in all aspects of your career. All
actors work in each class. Limit 10
The fourth class of each month, we often have on
camera class, and we work with varying aspects of the actor's career needs. Often, actors work
privately on occasion for personal career guidance- photos, resumes, agent hunting, networking
etc.
The atmosphere is extremely positive with an
emphasis on awakening your innate gifts and learning how to share them within the needs of the
moment-on the set or in the cold read, the commercial, etc. No aggressive, negative criticism or
"breaking down" is involved. Class size is limited to a maximum of 10.
Approximately every three months, "works-in-
progress" showcases are held.
What's the Difference between Chekhov in Action
classes ($175/mo.) and the MCC Workout ($25/mo)?
The Chekhov in Action Class is limited to 10 actors
that Lisa Dalton will lead, devising a personal growth plan with each student. All students work in
all classes on a variety of applications with this growth plan in mind. It is intended to be an
active learning process with a highly qualified teacher addressing many different aspects of your
career needs individually. Class enrollment ($175/mo) includes the workout.
The Chekhov Connection Workout will be lead by a
paid workshop leader who may be a guest director, teacher, or advanced actor. The workout is
intended to give you an opportunity to practice your skills in an economic and supportive
environment. You prepare material in advance or participate in improvisations. The size of the
group is not limited and scheduling of scenes and monologues is on a first come basis. Group
feedback is the option of the performer. All workout participants are expected to give four hours
per month of work to the organization.
